INSIGHT

As nearly 12.4% of Canadian paid workers were laid off monthly since February 2020 due to COVID-19, I questioned, how can and is one’s profession perceived as outside of the financial perspective? A profession has a personal desire behind that it supports one’s interests and skills, and they help us as humans meet our individual needs.

Occupational pursuits develop roles and routines within a cultural context that give a person a sense of identity. Thus, we can observe that profession is highly rooted into the ecosystem of life, and so the loss of it can directly disrupts an individual’s attempt to pertain positive self images, increasing the risk of mental health problems.

IDEA

Rise is a digital professional community service linked to the user’s LinkedIn profile to help them stay attached to their profession in a more intimate environment. With the data extracted from the user’s LinkedIn profile, Rise finds the most matching professional group, which conveys into finding opportunities of learning, workshops, connecting, viewing contents, and collaborating within.

These opportunities encourage users to remain connected to their profession during the time of their recessions. Ultimately becoming the motivational force to actively engage them into the opportunity driven life, while pertaining to their professional identity. Rise is an authentic demonstration of deriving opportunities from failure as a key to success.

IMPACT

To many of us, life is a long term investment of personal interests and wills, and yet oftentimes, we struggle to pertain those values under unusual environmental conditions that we do not expect to foresee. Rise directly tackles this problem of environmental uncertainty, where personal/professional growth is not heavily relied on the environmental changes of the world nor entitled to certain organizations, but regulates under personal assessment instead.

As we are in the middle of a global pandemic, a lot of our professional statuses have changed drastically. We are either seeking for new opportunities, or to further embrace our professional values with the time that is granted. Whichever professional pursuits we take, Rise provides the most appropriate opportunities best suitable for you
